ScreenMagic is built so that we can't spy on you, even if we wanted to. Here's the deal, in plain English.
Recording, editing, captions — all of it runs on your computer. Nothing is uploaded. There's no "cloud version".
The app does not phone home. No usage stats, no crash dumps, no "anonymous diagnostics" sent anywhere by default.
No login, no email, no sign-up. We don't know who you are because we never ask.
Speech-to-text for captions uses a model that runs on your machine. Your audio never leaves your computer.
ScreenMagic, the desktop app, does not transmit any personal data, usage data, telemetry, error reports, or content to any server we operate. There is no first-party server. We do not log IP addresses, install events, or feature usage.
The app may check for software updates by querying the public release metadata on the project's update host (currently GitHub). That request is initiated by your computer to a third-party (GitHub), follows their privacy policy, and contains only what's needed to compare versions. You can disable update checks in the app's preferences.
If you opt in to send a crash report, the report includes a stack trace, app version, and OS version. No video, audio, or transcript content is ever included.
Recordings, projects, transcripts, and exports are stored on your local disk. You decide where to save them. We have no copy and no access.
This site (screenmagic.online) serves static HTML. We don't
set tracking cookies, run advertising scripts, or use third-party
analytics. The web host's access logs may contain standard request
metadata (IP, user-agent, requested URL) used for operational purposes
and not shared.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and bump the date below. Material changes affecting privacy will also be noted in the app's release notes.
